Arabic is mainly subdivided into three main versions as Quranic or Classical Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, and Colloquial or Daily Arabic.

EGYPTIAN ARABIC has more than 50 million speakers worldwide! It is mainly spoken in Egypt, and is believed to have influences from English, French, Greek, Italian and Turkish.

 

MAGHREBI ARABIC is spoken by around 70 million people globally. It can be heard in Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia and Western Sahara.

 

GULF ARABIC is spoken by about 36 million people. It can be heard in countries in the Persian Gulf such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and parts of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and Oman.

 

LEVANTINE ARABIC is spoken by around 20 million speakers, worldwide! It can be heard in countries like Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria.

 

MESOPOTAMIAN ARABIC has around 15 million speakers. It is also known as Iraqi Arabic, and can be heard in Iraq, Syria, Iran, and Turkey.

 

SUDANESE ARABIC is mainly spoken in Sudan. It has more than 17 million native speakers.

 

YEMENI ARABIC is spoken by more than 15 million people as a native language. It can also be heard in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and Djibouti.

 

HASSANIYA ARABIC is spoken by about 3 million people. It can be heard in Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal, Niger, and Western Sahara.

But, having said that, it’s important not to forget, there are some very strong Arabic accents. A strong Arabic accent can interfere with the line of communication when speaking English. Reducing and softening a strong Arabic accent, can help you to improve your speaking skills.
