Here’s the story! ….
When Mariusz (who became one of my Polish student’s) would go into a coffee shop and ask for a tea . . . . he would get a coffee, by mistake!
I remember the day – I was totally bamboozled …
when I received his first email, and read about the problems …
he was having when speaking English with a Polish accent.
When finally meeting him, I asked:
Welcome to Starbucks! – What can I get you?
He replied: A Black Tea please . . . .
But, he didn’t pronounce the letter ‘B’.
So, I heard: “A lack Tea please . . . . “
which sounds pretty much like “a Latte, please”.
The opposite of tea must be coffee?
Mariusz (a Polish student) was going in to a coffee shop, asking for a tea . . . . and getting the opposite, . . . . .a coffee!
Just because he didn’t pronounce ONE LETTER – ‘B’.
Would You Like Tea or Coffee?
